The Ranked rules
Ranked has two ladders. Both use the day’s seed and enemy mix, but Aegis Trials supplies the kit and Ascendant Ladder uses your account’s upgrades and Glyphs.
Choose a ladder
| Mode | What you bring | What is shared |
|---|---|---|
| Aegis Trials | No account upgrades. Play with the day’s supplied Glyph kit and allowed Fusions. | The daily kit, seed, and enemy mix. |
| Ascendant Ladder | Your upgrades, unlocked Glyphs, and crafted Glyphs. | The daily seed and enemy mix. |
Each ladder has its own rating, placement matches, daily limit, and standings. A result in Aegis Trials changes your Aegis rating. It leaves your Ascendant rating alone.
Choose Aegis to play the supplied kit. Choose Ascendant to take your account’s build options into the day’s challenge. Open Ranked from the hub to read the current enemy mix and see your available matches.

Placement and daily matches
Your first three matches on each ladder are placement matches. Rating changes stay hidden until you finish all three. Placement changes rating faster than later matches.
You can finish placement without waiting for a daily reset. After placement, each ladder allows up to three ranked matches per UTC day. Placement matches also count toward that day’s played total, so finishing all three on one day uses that ladder’s matches for the day.
The counters are separate. Playing three Aegis matches does not spend your Ascendant matches. Check the remaining-match counter and reset timer on the Ranked screen before starting.
How a match is decided
Ranked compares the depth of your run with your rival’s target. Reach at least the target depth to win. A tie counts as a win for you.
After placement, the Ranked screen shows the target wave and the rating change available for a win or loss. Check that target before entering the run. The day’s shared seed fixes the challenge, while your Draft choices and play determine how deep you reach.
Wins raise your rating. After placement, a loss applies half the rating movement that the same calculation would otherwise produce. Both ratings and your recent results affect the change. The Ranked preview shows the points for the current match.
Standings group players from the current Ladder Season by league. Your rating determines the league, and the standings show your place within it.
League ratings
There are seven leagues. Reach a league’s minimum rating to enter it. During the season, a loss cannot take your rating below the floor of your current league.
| League | Minimum rating |
|---|---|
| Bronze | 0 |
| Silver | 1,100 |
| Gold | 1,300 |
| Platinum | 1,500 |
| Diamond | 1,700 |
| Master | 1,900 |
| Grandmaster | 2,200 |
New ratings start at 1,000 before placement. Your first displayed league depends on the three placement results. A Ladder Season reset can move you down a league even though an ordinary loss cannot.
Daily and season resets
The daily challenge and match allowance reset at 00:00 UTC. Use the in-game countdown for the time remaining in your location, including daylight-saving changes.
A Ladder Season lasts 42 days. At the next season, your rating moves one third of the way back toward 1,000, and you play three placement matches again on each ladder. For example, a rating of 1,600 moves to 1,400 before the new placements.
Your career-high rating remains recorded. The Ladder Season is separate from the monthly Grid Season reward track, so the two timers do not end together.
Sign-in and interrupted matches
Ranked requires Google Play Games on Android or Game Center on iOS. Sign in from the Ranked screen if it asks. Live standings also need a connection. If standings cannot load, the game shows their connection status so you can tell whether the displayed standings are current.
If the app closes during a Ranked run, return before 30 minutes away to resume a restorable save. At 30 minutes, that Ranked run expires. This deadline applies to Ranked. Standard runs have no 30-minute age limit for restoring a valid save.
Check the Ranked screen after returning for the recorded result, rating, and matches left today. The next daily challenge begins at the UTC reset shown there.
